In 2014 the VSGA introduced a new Grants Program designed to provide seed funding to schools to establish new gardens in their schools. It is the VSGA’s belief that all schools should be encouraged to consider their grounds and outdoor learning as an important part of their student’s education.
Gardens make interesting and involving outdoor classrooms. By establishing and/or expanding the green environment in schools (no matter what the size whether it is a vertical garden in a small space or a grand project of the entire school grounds) not only improves the aesthetic appearance but can make an exciting outside learning environment with greater benefits of student health and wellbeing.
The Grants program has over $43,000 worth of grants to distribute to schools. The grants come in the form of a voucher to be redeemed at a retail nursery which is a member of the Nursery & Garden Industry of Victoria (NGIV).
The VSGA Grants Program is open to all State Government, Catholic and Independents schools across Victoria.
The 2018 Grants will be launched on the 1st March and applications will close on the Friday 27th April at 5pm.
